Why do you watch fake news programs such as The Daily Show or The Colbert Report?

This is just some extra research for a report im doing in my sociology class at MSU. Your input is greatly apreciated.
for the record, I don’t mean fake as in fake, its in the satirical sense.

Why am I constantly drawn to Fox News over all other cable and broadcast news stations and other programs?
Filed Under Media Journalism | 17 Comments
Everytime I get bored with whatever I’m watching, I switch it to Fox News and it’s like a heroin or cigarette addict getting there fix.
I never used to give a toot about 24 hour news networks until the events of 9/11/01 occurred.

What’s the difference between Fox and Cnn? What news shows do you recommend?
Filed Under Media Journalism | 10 Comments
I really want to know what is the difference between this two networks. Also I would like to know the difference between democrats and republicans. I’m a newbie to politics so be easy on me. I would like to say that when Cnn televised that tape from the Middle East (the one where terrorist sharpshooters shoot down American soldiers) was not cool. Also what do you think of Bill O’ Reily? I see many people don’t like him, but I think he’s fair? I don’t know, tell me what you think? Also which shows are neutral (as in just informing facts and not taking sides)?

Why do people contribute to ireport and other tv news programs?
Filed Under Media Journalism | 1 Comment
Anchorpersons are paid millions of dollars to report the news. Don’t volunteer reporters understand they are working for free? They should be paid for their photos and videos, not contributing to corporate greed. Do you agree? Why or why not?
This is not an assignment; I’m a graduate. My friend, who works in a bank told me the executives are always planning on how to make our customers our unpaid employees. I feel that people should be paid for their work. If payment comes in the form of 15 seconds of fame, you’ve given me an answer to my question.

Why was that Marine throwing up on CNN news?
Filed Under Military | 21 Comments
It showed the Marine on his knees throwing up. The reporter said the young big bad Marine saw an Insurgent and became so scared he threw up and hollered Take me out of here. I thought they trained the Marines to be brave. Do they?

Is an opinion jornalism better than objective reporting? Should newspaper follow the examples of news programs on television and news sites on the web and present more personal perspectives than facts!?
Do you really believe the way with hear the news affect the way we take the news?!

I am a baseball fan, so I often read results of the games. Sometimes, I’ll watch a game, read the recap, and say, Wait a minute… that’s not what happened. I’ll go back to the source and realize that the reporter messed up completely.
How hard is it to get the facts straight when reporting on sports? I wonder if the same thing happens with reporters on other current events? How can you not be detail-oriented when you’re a journalist reporting on facts. Maybe I should get a job as a sports writer? I’d do much better than the stuff I read.
